Ralph Delos Reyes and Trinedy Nguyen are designing a product to assist the Chicago Fire Department's Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) with the equipment they carry daily.  With close communication with Sgt. Joe Andruzzi of the Chicago Police Bike Squad, Dan Bombam & Angie Minnick of the SERT, we will design a product that will fit intuatively into their daily routines and possibly increase the efficiency of their response times.  The SERT is a fleet of 8 so far, but they have plans of increasing this number in the years to come.  They have already experienced the success of being able to respond up to 5-10 critical minutes before the motorized emergency vehicles in high density areas and events like the Taste. 

With 10-12 hour shifts, 365 days a year, The Chicago Fire Department's SERT truely stretches the capabilities of human-powered transportation.  Our goal, as a design team, is to alleviate unneccesary equipment concerns, leaving more time and energy for the CFD Bike Team to do what they do best.
